Abstract

In the 1960s Pierre Cardin, Paco Rabanne and André Courrèges launched their »futuristic collections « on the catwalks, without too much success in selling them to fashionable customers. Nevertheless their designs became famous as costumes for Science-Fiction-movies, e. g. BARBARELLA. Science-fictional narratives constitute the visual strategies of certain fashion photographs regarding accessory and setting, especially since the 1950s. Sustainable innovations are found (until now) mainly in textile technologies and the development of materials, as well as in the sphere of casual and functional wear:
