dc.description.abstractDatenbanken, als Medien der Kooperation, sind alles durchdringende Infrastrukturen, denen im Unterschied zu 'Netzwerken' oder 'Algorithmen' medientheoretisch vergleichsweise wenig Aufmerksamkeit zukommt. Die medienhistoriografische und wirtschaftsgeschichtliche Betrachtung untersucht Momente des Nacherfindens und der Co-Innovation in der DDR anhand der relationalen Datenbank DABA-1600, die gemeinsam vom VEB Robotron und der TU Dresden in den 1980er Jahren entwickelt wurde. An diesem Beispiel verfolgt der Beitrag die Frage, wie es bei den Datenbanken der sozialistischen DDR zu starken Ähnlichkeiten der kooperativen Medien zum kapitalistischen Westen kam.de
dc.description.abstractAs media of cooperation, databases are all-pervasive infrastructures that have received comparatively little attention in media theory in contrast to “networks” or "algorithms." This media-historiographical and economic-historical contribution examines moments of reinvention and coinnovation in the GDR by analyzing the relational database DABA-1600, which was jointly developed by VEB Robotron and the TU Dresden in the 1980s. Through this analysis, the paper discusses how the databases of the socialist GDR came to bear strong similarities to those of the capitalist West.en
