Article:
Geschichte als Kommunikationsproblem

Abstract

The article raises the perspective of history as a history of different media. As historical knowledge is always based on media – bones, writing, photography, film etc. – these media in reverse inform and condition historical thinking. Peters points to the vacancies and voids of every historical recording and therefore knowledge and opts – with Harold Innis – to a wide range of things, objects, techniques and media that should be taken into account and interpretated by media historians.
