Abstract

The article tries to show that in some strands of technical and media theory, what is technical and medial has been regarded in a very strong sense as a basal relationship, and that precisely in this consideration, references to the field of what is natural in the wider sense of the word play a role that should not be underestimated. The demonstration is based on the technical philosophies of Ernst Kapp, Martin Heidegger, and Oswald Spengler as well as on new media theoretical approaches, especially media ecology.
