Abstract

Focusing on racist and colonial continuities in university life, this article aims at finding ways of dealing with film and media studies in a decolonial and/or antiracist manner. It reflects on the potential of contradictions that might arise in this process and investigates forms of antiracist research practices and dialogic exchange within the scientific framework. We seek a position that allows research to become a practice of awareness of accountability, power structures, and dynamics of difference. As this relational position is dependent on others’ perspectives, our situatedness is constantly questioned and made visible. Antiracist and decolonial research can therefore only endure as a daily practice and a continuous process of learning and self-inquiry.
