This article examines lectures which are archived on or even produced for the internet. It analyzes these online-lectures concerning the use of video and web-interfaces. The argument is, that these medial surroundings produce a certain lecture performativity which can be characterized as motivational: not only the audience and the users should be motivated but the lecturers themselves practice a permanent self-motivation.
