dc.description.abstractDer Aufsatz versucht am Beispiel von Bildern (beispielhaft: Joseph Wright of Derby), die zunächst Abbildungen naturwissenschaftlicher Wissensformatio-nen zu sein scheinen, Ordnungsverfahren nachzuspüren, die an der Schwelle zur Moderne Sichtbarkeit produzieren. Dabei liegt ein besonderes Augenmerk auf der komplexen Konfiguration von Ähnlichkeit, Gleichheit und Bezugnah-me von Bild, Welt, Zeichen und Wissen. Mit Verweis auf Michel Foucault und Barbara Stafford wird der problematische Prozess ausgelotet, wie sich Bild-bedeutung in Abhängigkeit von Bildgebrauch (bzw. der jeweiligen kontextuel-len Erklärung des Bildes) und nicht im Bildzeichen selber herstellt.de
dc.description.abstractThis paper tries to trace regimes of order which produce visibility at the bor-der to Modernism on the example of illustrations (e.g., Joseph Wright of Der-by), which seems to be formations of natural scientific knowledge. A special interest is drawn to the complex configurations of similarity, equality and reference of image, sign, world and knowledge. By reference to the works of Michel Foucault and Barbara Stafford the most problematic process of the production of image-knowledge is reflected – a knowledge which depends on the use of images (or the particular contextual explanation of the image).en
