Article:
Rechentechnische Reparaturkompetenz. Vom staatlich verordneten technischen Fortschritt zur Entwicklung der Digital Humanities

Abstract

The essay examines the computing technology of the GDR against the background of information-technological ""repair knowledge." It focuses less on aspects of communication technology—which might, for instance, ask about the development of computing technology from the field of radio—and rather on this knowledge in the domain of computing technology as a technology of (scientific) everyday life. The aim is to show that the know-how of repairing in the field of computing technology in the GDR served as a prerequisite for creative and innovative approaches that favored the development of the digital humanities.
