Abstract

It is plausible to connect the concept of atmosphere with the medium film, because in addition to processes of the acquirement of comprehension the potentials of experience are constitutive elements. Film could be comprehended, constitutes a specific experience – the film experience – and possesses characteristic elements that are able to develop a specific atmosphere. Likewise numerous discourses connect the phenomenon of perception of atmosphere with the cognitive principle of immersion: because it is the immersive principle that is often referred to in the context of immerging or steeping into the atmosphere of a scene or subject or when an occurrence of atmosphere itself is indicated as ingression. The artificiality of film enables a special form of atmospheric characteristics in which atmosphere is describable as a phenomenon of divergence that is constituted by immersive potentials as soon as experiences of discrepancies that are blocking immersive potentials.
