| dc.description.abstract | With the rise of ubiquitous computing and the ever-increasing amount of sensors and processors that are being deployed, we are constructing a planetary scale cybernetic feedback system of computation. As our techniques for creating artificial intelligences become more sophisticated - and their implementations become more widespread in their applications- we are slowly handing over control of this system to a form of machine intelligence that is unbeknownst to us. Soon we might not be living in a world in which direct human activity is the primary impact on the Earth’s geology and ecosystems, but instead in a world where the ‘intelligences’ that run our planetary computation system are the most influential factor. | en |
