Article: Das Bild als Subjekt? Eine Zusammenfassung der Kritik an Horst Bredekamps THEORIE DES BILDAKTS
Abstract
The article summarizes the critiques of Horst Bredekamp’s THEORY OF THE IMAGE ACT from 2010 expressed in reviews, essays, and monographs and provides a structured overview of the evaluation of the Image Act by experts. Criticism of animism, anthropomorphism, and the auto-reflexivity of images are addressed along with problems of theory formation, pseudo-scientific rhetoric, the avoid-ance of contextualization, and the strategy of building a profile.
