McLuhan unter Palmen. Über Orte des Denkens, Sprechens und Handelns

Abstract

  • EN
In this contribution Johannes Bruder, Nelly Y. Pinkrah, and Sarah Sharma discuss the performativity of Marshall McLuhan’s media theory, practices of rereading and rewriting the canon, antiracist and feminist pedagogies, academic activism, the Diversity-Equity-Inclusion Complex and the question of whether Elon Musk is (also) a media theorist. Their conversation is at once a retrospective of Sarah Sharma’s time at the helm the University of Toronto’s McLuhan Center, a prequel to her work as the director of the University’s Institute of Communication, Culture, Information, and Technology (ICCIT), and a collective and wishful speculation about the future work of media studies.
