Article:
Dear white professors, warum sind alle „Klassiker“ 'weiß'?

Abstract

As students of the European media studies program in Potsdam, we are using this article to reflect on our experiences so far at the university and within the field of media studies. We see this as an attempt to articulate what we have been feeling and knowing. At the same time, the text describes differing experiences on our common path. Caught between disappointments and unfulfilled wishes, we challenge the canon of our discipline: What did we learn and what should we learn? What knowledge has remained unmentioned or is only considered an option? By problematizing the curriculum, we want to address further intertwined forms of hierarchy in academia and use decolonial strategies and methods to imagine different ways of learning and teaching.
