This paper comprehends immersion and interaction as crucial components of mediality. It stresses how humans convey their self-created environment to themselves and proposes interface as a strategy of visual self-organization. The paper thereby represents an attempt to oppose the cultural practice of visualizing to dichotomous models of nature and technology, virtuality and reality. This understanding of constantly interacting processes also broadens the view of the complex multilayered nature of the current process principles of one’s visual self-understanding: digital interface.
