Große und kleine Gesten. Hörspielproduktion 1970/1995 – Eine ethnografische Vignette

Reproducing the genre of an “ethnographic vignette”, the text describes a technological turn in the production of radio dramas in the early 1990s, namely that of analogue production technology with tape machines to digital production technology with digital hard disk recording systems. It will become clear that this change is not only taking place at the level of a technical infrastructure that stays hidden ‘below the surface’. Instead, this media upheaval is, too, changing production processes in a very profound way – with effects on the aesthetics of radio plays as well as on production cultures in the recording studio. The text deals in particular with how the change from analogue to digital affects the bodies of those involved, alters their forms of communication and interaction and shifts the power relations prevailing in the recording studio.
