Was ist eine Kinderzeichnung? – Erkenntnistheoretische Herausforderungen und bildtheoretische Leerstellen

Abstract

Current social-scientific image analysis methods are essentially based on the art-historical approaches of IMDAHL and PANOFSKY. Against this background, it will be critically discussed to what extent these methodological approaches are suitable for an analysis of children's drawings and which epistemological as well as image-methodological challenges are associated with them. Inspired by these art-historical methods, the article poses the question to what extent a reconstruction of children's artistic activity could contribute towards a further development of the topic of »children's drawing« in terms of picture theory as well as on its reflection in terms of educational theory.
