Michel Foucault described discourse analysis as starting with and assessing the thresholds where knowledge appears and is staged as such. And it is not coincidental that ‹discours› literally also means ‹lecture›, ‹speech›, because the staging and appearing of knowledge can particularly be studied and observed in the setting of the lecture. The poiesis of knowledge of academia itself and especially the academic presentation rarely have been studied. It is induced by experiences and effects of evidence that transgress the boundaries of a disciplinary production of knowledge and call for trans-disciplinary cooperations, in which media studies and scenic arts could turn the lecture auditorium into a laboratory situation. Thus, the installation of Lecture Theatres could add an experimental dimension to the historical and theoretical approaches of media studies.
