Abstract

This article examines documentary practices of panoramic image acquisition. Beginning with a discussion of innovations in digital technology and their relevance for image recording and image use, the article then analyses contemporary forms of 'location awareness' and image-based 'mapping'. The analysis focusses on HAITI 360°, a series of interactive, immersive videos by CNN, and PEOPLE'S PARK, a filmic research project by the Sensory Ethnography Labs.
