Tim Ingold's ecological anthropology investigates the relations of organic and inorganic materials, how they affect each other and thus achieve agency. In the interview, Ingold explains, with reference, amongst others, to the example of the interaction of musician, instrument and surroundings, how such interactions are formed and which role concepts such as correspondence, resonance and obsession play in this context. He argues for a way of thinking that is relevant for a media ecology, because it overcomes the powerful habitual demarcation between craftsmanship and scholarship.
