Taking Shaun Ross, a model with albinism, as an example, the article explores the field-specific and media-related modes of producing celebrity in the fashion world based on extraordinary corporeality. On the one hand, Ross's celebrity can be linked to his functioning as an eye-catcher within the imaging regime of the present digital culture, which is characterized by ever shrinking attention spans, and on the other hand to his expert use of social media in terms of self-presentation. Ross has thus been able to turn his putative flaw into an asset that has since become his brand. Constitutive of this brand is not only his extraordinary look but also his social activism against discrimination of people with unconventional bodies. This makes Ross an ideal partner for viral marketing at the present moment at which boundaries between advertising and social activism are blurring.
