Article:
Klasse – Einleitung in den Schwerpunkt

Abstract

The objects of media studies bear a marker of class just like researchers do. What has been increasingly put to the test for race and gender – the analytic criteria for describing medial artifacts, for forms of production and reception, for epistemological structuring, up to the conditions of possibility of knowledge production itself – is still open to discussion when it comes to the category of class: The history of its classifications, of the naturalization and internalization of classicisms, of the presence of those who are precarious both locally and globally, and of access to institutions of higher education.
