Anders zuhören. Tribe 8s ästhetische Praktiken: «Disidentification» und queere Klassenpolitiken

Class and identity politics are often framed and analysed as separate fields. Cultural productions by the queer feminist punk band Tribe 8 are no exception: They seem to focus on themes surrounding gender and sexuality. But a doubled reading practice, a kind of re-framing, reveals the implicit articulations of (themes of) class in their cultural and «aesthetic» practices. The analysis focuses on lyrics, modes of singing, and controversies surrounding one of their live gigs. Thus, «disidentifications» with the allegedly coherent subject position of woman or lesbian can be shown and interrogated for their potential to negotiate a «class politics with queer/feminist difference».
