Article: «Intimacy Expectations». Wissenslust, sexuelle Gewalt, universitäre Lehre
Abstract
#MeToo and the University: What would a media studies perspective, or a perspective from within media studies entail? The article presents a discussion that begins with reading – the reading of feminist and queer positions, mostly concerning the US context: Laura Kipnis, Jennifer Doyle, Jane Gallop, Corey Robin, Lauren Berlant. They, and we, ask among other things: How much class is in a classroom, what about the eroticization of hierarchies, about the relationship between sex and legal regulations, what does this have to do with a culture of sexual complicity, with male bonding? The article proposes thinking about the place of writing and «we» that informs it: What difference does the nation-state container, i.e. the respective legal situation, make to how we negotiate these questions? What are the differences (or similarities) in knowledge cultures?
