Er wirft dabei einen spezifisch linguistischen Fokus auf Theorien und Methoden innerhalb dieses Paradigmas und orientiert sich insbesondere an diskursanalytischen und textlinguistischen Fragestellungen, die eine theoreti-sche Ausdifferenzierung und methodologische Präzisierung der zentralen Be-griffe Zeichenmodalität und Medium anstreben. Der Grundgedanke dabei ist, dass Zeichenmodalitäten als eng verflochtene Bündel von Material, Form und dynamischer Diskurssemantik eine geeignete Grundlage für detaillierte empirische Analysen bieten, die letztlich eine umfassende Prüfung und Evaluation der theoretischen Ergebnisse und Forschung über das einzelne Artefakt hinaus ermöglicht.The article deals with fundamental and broadly discussed issues within the paradigm of multimodal analysis concerning how the intersemiotic interplay of semiotic resources constructs meaning. Taking a specifically linguistic focus on theories and methods within this paradigm, the article orientates particu-larly towards discourse analytical and text linguistic accounts which aim at a theoretically and methodologically fine-grained account of the notions of se-miotic mode and medium.
