Anderes Wissen. Zur Materialität und Hantologie der Erfahrung

Author(s): Gaafar, Rania

Abstract

The rise of the New Right and their inexorable influence in politics, culture, and higher education in Germany has been met with significant support from the highest ranks of institutions. This paper links observations related to events at the University of Siegen in the fall of 2018, when right-wing speakers and populists were invited to join a philosophy seminar on freedom of speech, with aesthetic practices of postcolonial media art and its theoretical impetus. It discusses the potential of art for prompting a new ethical and agential medial realism of the experience of otherness.
