Article:
Psichon. Das Medium der Sowjetmacht

Abstract

The article traces practices of broadcasted hypnosis in Russian television of the 1990ies back to Russian and Soviet experimental cultures in the field of electromagnetism. Russian reflexology already and its concepts of biological commucication, Biologičeskaja svjaz′ dejstvuet, had pondered on possibilities of transmaterial systems of transferrence/broadcast. In the gap between materiality and immateriality, in modes of tranferrence through ray-energy, radiowaves and electromagnetic field, the experiments of Russian neurophysiology, soviet avantgarde art and physological cybrnetics appear as vorrunners of mediatheory. As those models were also conceived of as political utopias, they also belong into the field of science-history and a political history of mass media.
