Annotieren. Über die Arbeit mit PDF-Apps und darüber hinaus

The popularity of tablets since 2010 lead to a remediatiton of the book through PDF-Apps. Working with these programs can be understood as a «reading-scene»: linguistic-semantic, instrumental-technological and gestural-bodily factors contribute to its production of meaning. In this context «browsing», for instance, reveals itself to be a cultural technology. The new reading scene, however, turns out to be still instable. In this regard, the possibilities of annotations promise some form of control. Their success is not certain, but perhaps a new creative method of capturing a text can emerge. The difference between using the App sucessfully at home but not succesfully in public yet further emphasizes that working with the new technology is still part of a learning process. The training is not over yet.
