Book part:
Erzählen als Paradigma des Journalismus. Multimodales Storytelling über Wirklichkeitsereignisse

Abstract

Storytelling can be identified as an anthropological constant. The stock of stories of our own current society is delivered and managed by journalism as far as political, social and historical facts are concerned. The narrative as a constituent of journalistic reporting has in addition to the gratification of the recipient in the form of entertainment and recreation even more advanced functions. The information function, the social and the political function also affect the narrative. As a factual narrative, journalism has in common with fictional narratives the narrative macrostructure. Multimodality and immersion are particularly well-suited for journalistic representation of reality, because the world to be presented can be experienced in a multisensorial way. If you like, classic forms of journalistic narrative, for example in the printed daily newspaper, were always the result of a reductionism with limited user experience value. Perhaps this is the reason why a «renaissance of narration» has just recently been noted in journalism.
