Now, there are hypertexts and hyperfiction in Russia as well as cell phones and Dollars. Roberto Simanowski talked with Inna about the Russian Internet, Dmitry Galkovsky's masterpiece "Endless dead-end", about the Russian Queneau, and why it is incorrect to take postmodern theory as a basis for hypertext.

Begriffsbestimmung und TypologisierungSimanowski, Roberto (1999-05-28) , S. 1-11-Das ‘digitale Alphabet’ der Bits und Bytes ist immer die erste Ebene der Darstellung, auf der die Sprachen der Buchstaben, Bilder und Töne aufbauen. -Der Begriff >Digitale Literatur< bezeichnet somit die Existenzvoraussetzung seines Gegenstandes, er impliziert zugleich, daß unter Literatur hier nicht mehr allein Text verstanden wird. -Die digitale Literatur läßt sich in 5 Typen unterteilen: 1. Texte, die linear strukturiert und traditionell verfaßt sind und nicht auf die digitale Existenzweise angewiesen sind (uneigentliche digitale Literatrur). 2. Texte, die linear angeordnet sind, die ihre Entstehung aber den Möglichkeiten der Kommunikation im digitalen Medium verdanken (kollaborativ verfaßte Texte). 3. Texte, die ebenfalls linear angeordnet sind, die aber sowohl hinsichtlich der Produktion wie der Rezeption auf die Interaktionsmöglichkeiten des Netzes angewiesen sind (MUDs, MOOs, Chatgroups). 4. Texte, die eine nichtlineare Struktur aufweisen (Hypertexte bzw. Hyperfiction). 5. Texte, die mit Bild-, Ton- und Videoelementen versetzt sind, entweder in linearer oder in nichtlinearer Form (Hypermedia bzw. ebenfalls Hypertext).In diesem Beitrag wird die besondere Bedeutung der Kategorie "Raum" unter folgenden Aspekten diskutiert.

He has widely published on these topics and is well known as the author of "Cybertext: Perspectives on Ergodic Literature", one of the most thoughtful and challenging publications in the field. Roberto Simanowski talked with Espen Aarseth about hypertext resaerch and curricula in Norway, about classifications and categorisations, MUDs, the new umbrella term medium, and the distinction between art and commerce.
